North jetty closed; new seawall construction set to begin week of January 6

Crews continue to demolish the old north jetty pier and remove construction debris as the North Jetty Revetment Improvement Project progresses.

The project contractor, Shoreline Foundation, Inc. (SFI), is expected to  remove the remaining 40 feet of old pier and debris by January 3, 2025. Construction of the new seawall is anticipated to begin during the week of January 6, 2025. The construction site will be closed and secured December 24-25, 2024, and December 31, 2024 -January 1, 2025, in observance of Christmas and New Year's holidays.

When the project is completed by July 2025, the north jetty will feature the following improvements: 190 linear feet of revetment structure with four-foot diameter granite boulders and a steel, sheet pile seawall with a concrete sidewalk deck along portions of the jetty damaged by storms.

The project could require up to eight months to complete (completion targeted for July). Public access to the north jetty is unavailable as this is  a fenced-off  "hard hat" construction site.  The jetty improvements are part of the District’s responsibility to maintain inlet infrastructure, navigation, and enhance public safety.

Also, the webcam is unavailable until the project is complete.

Note: The project is located within Sebastian Inlet State Park, but the Sebastian Inlet District is the responsible entity.

Stay tuned for updates.
