North jetty update: Walkway poured, armor stone coming
Crews are completing the pouring of the concrete sidewalk as the first phase of the North Jetty Revetment Improvements Project moves forward.
The project contractor, Shoreline Foundation, Inc. (SFI), is receiving loads of armor stone that will be used to fortify the improve 200-foot section of seawall at the jetty.
The North Jetty project began in November and calls for installing about 200 feet of new revetment structure, seawalls and a concrete sidewalk deck along portions of the jetty damaged by storms. Project completion is targeted for July. Public access to the north jetty is unavailable as this is a fenced-off "hard hat" construction site. The jetty improvements are part of the District’s responsibility to maintain inlet infrastructure, navigation, and enhance public safety.
Also, the webcam, which will be moved to an improved location at the jetty, is unavailable until the project is complete.
Note: The project is located within Sebastian Inlet State Park, but the Sebastian Inlet District is the responsible entity.
Stay tuned for updates.
